Why choose an in-home lifestyle newborn session for you and your baby?

It's personal. It's beautiful. It's safe. I'll say it again, it's safe. The choice of where you take your baby and who and how many people are around your newborn can be overwhelming. And, you are recovering too. Stay cozy, stay home, stay in your space.

Take some stress out of getting ready. Whether you are welcoming your first newborn or are a seasoned pro toting other littles with you, getting out of the house can get complicated at first. So I come to you. A great bonus is that it becomes very easy to include siblings, pets, or special areas of your home.

Your baby won't be placed in unnatural positions at strange angles or plopped amongst a bunch of props. You will hold your baby. Your partner will hold your baby. Siblings are invited to be involved. This is your home. The safest place your baby has known. You have everything you need and can be comfortable. The moments and connections captured will be you as a parent, loving your baby, without distraction. You'll feel it when you first see your images, and years down the road. They will be heirlooms to pass on to your baby when you accidentally blink and she is all grown up.

Take Your Time

A great thing about in-home lifestyle newborn sessions is that your baby does not have to be so freshly newborn to make it work. Those super posed baby-in-awkward positions photos are beautiful, and they have to happen while your baby is a very fresh newborn. The clock is ticking on your window of time.

When I come to your home for your newborn session, it does not have to be within days of birth. Of course it absolutely can be, and there is something uniquely special about those early, early days together. But if you need to, you can take your time to soak up those early days together. Heal a bit. Begin to get in a groove and get to know each other. Snuggle. Lots. You have a few more weeks of time in which to schedule your newborn session when it's in your own home and authentic. Is your baby sleepy? Great! Is your baby wide awake? That's awesome too! It will work. I will direct you with what to do, and you won't have to worry about a thing.

Your Home is Perfect

Feeling like you are going to have to live in a big, beautiful, perfectly cleaned and gorgeously lit home in order to have you photos there? Wrong. Again, wrong. We don't need much room. You don't even need to clean up a single thing. Seriously, I promise. When I arrive I'll find the right space or spaces, and it will be great. I'm a lifelong Pacific Northwesterner, and am well aware of how dark it can be around here during some times of the year. I still promise you it will be ok.

Do not stress about your home. Or sibling behavior. Or anything at all. I'm a mom too. My first baby is about to turn 10, and I'm still tired. And worried. And overwhelmed, sometimes by chaos, often by love. I envy you a little, being at the beginning with a new little life. Whether it's your first or your fifth, what you are doing is incredible. You deserve to see yourself in all of your glorious motherhood. To look at your photos when this new person is turning 10, and be taken right back in time to what you are feeling right now. Everyone says it because it's true--it goes so, so fast.

No worries whatsoever. It'll be great mama, you've got this.
